Index.dev Acquires Codemotion to Scale Global Software Development

Index.dev's acquisition of Codemotion transforms the company from a talent marketplace into a full-service development partner. With expanded U.S. presence, deeper coverage in untapped regions, and proven Upwork expertise, Index.dev is now positioned to tackle bigger, more complex projects worldwide.

We’ve got big news. Index.dev just acquired Codemotion. This is more than a merger or just another partnership. It’s a power move. It changes how we work, who we serve, and what we can build together. It raises the bar for everything we do.

If you worked with us, or you’ve been following Index.dev, this means that we’re growing. We’re stepping up for our clients, for our talent, and for anyone who cares about the future of remote work, tech recruitment, and full project delivery.

We’re no longer “just” about helping companies hire great developers. Now, we can deliver entire projects end-to-end. Full teams. Full management. Full delivery.

Yaroslav Golovach, CEO of Codemotion, put it perfectly: “Joining Index.dev offers a chance to multiply our impact. Our developers now get access to a massive network and more diverse opportunities than ever before, and our clients get the same great service, but with a whole new level of scale and support. Together, we have the scale, reputation, and reach to serve bigger clients and deliver complex projects seamlessly. And we are excited to bring our agile, client-first approach into the fold.”

In this article, you’ll see what this acquisition means for our clients, our talent, and the entire tech ecosystem, and why this is only the beginning.

What is Codemotion

Codemotion is a custom software development company. They have a team of 65 professionals, delivering projects across multiple industries. They’ve built up serious experience doing both full project delivery and team extension. They're strong in Fintech, Blockchain, Healthcare, Logistics, AgriTech, and more.

They’re headquartered in the U.S., with R&D offices in places many people don’t think about first: Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine. They know those regions inside out. They tap into talent that is skilled, motivated, and often under-served.

Some of their better-known clients are NASA, MongoDB, Neom, VisitHealth, and Accept Blue. They’ve also made a name for themselves on Upwork. Hundreds of projects delivered there. $17M+ in revenue. 99% client satisfaction rate. And a Premium Expert Vetted status.

They bring exactly what complements us: full project delivery, CTO-as-a-service, strong collaboration across time zones, developers from Asia and the Caucasus regions we hadn’t fully tapped into, a U.S. entity for our primarily U.S. client base, a “clients for life” mindset, and the ability to scale on Upwork without losing quality.

“As soon as I spoke with Yaro and the Codemotion leadership I felt we shared a vision. Not just of growth. But of talent quality. Of clients care. Of doing things right. This isn’t about a hostile takeover; it was about two companies coming together to form a better one,” says Sergiu Matei, Co-founder of Index.dev.

Why we did it

You might be asking, "Why Codemotion?"

index.dev x codemotion

Well, the answer is simple. At Index.dev, we’ve always been good at finding and matching qualified developers. At helping companies hire the right talent fast. But we also saw the gaps.

We weren’t set up for full product delivery. We didn’t have as much presence in certain regions. And sometimes we had to say “no” to bigger, more complex projects because we didn’t yet have the full capabilities.

Codemotion fills those gaps.

“The decision to bring Codemotion on board wasn’t made in isolation,” says Andi Stan, CSO at Index.dev.

“It came from watching our clients’ needs evolve and seeing Codemotion’s proven ability to deliver. Just look at their work with Neom, the $500 billion smart city in Saudi Arabia. The complexity and stakes there are enormous. The fact that they can deliver on that level shows they’re ready for enterprise-scale challenges.”

Codemotion is seriously good at what they do, and what they do complements us perfectly.

  • They’re U.S.-headquartered, so we can now work with more U.S.-based companies who prefer a local entity.
  • They have millions in revenue on Upwork and 60+ team members who are already delivering. Clients love them. Processes work. Teams exist.
  • And they don’t just drop in developers. They deliver whole products. They bring CTOs, project managers, and the works. They move fast, have strong remote workflows, and take full ownership of delivery.

“We kept hearing this request over and over,” says Mike Sokirka, CEO of Index.dev. “Companies would come to us needing talent for specific roles, but increasingly, they wanted us to handle entire project deliveries. They wanted entire project teams with PMs, CTOs, and full accountability for results.”

This acquisition makes that possible. Now, when a startup comes to us saying, “We want to launch an AI product,” we can answer, “Here’s your full team. CTO, PM, developers, everything. We’ll take you from idea to market-ready product.”

What this brings us

What Codemotion brings to Index.dev

We didn’t do this because acquisitions sound cool. We did it because it completely changes what Index.dev can do for clients, talent, and partners.

Here’s how:

1. Full-stack project delivery

Before, you came to us when you needed a great developer, or a team of remote people. Now? We can deliver entire products from scratch. Full teams. CTO. Project Manager. UI/UX designers. Engineers. QA. Everything managed end-to-end. No more juggling multiple vendors or worrying about who owns delivery. And because Codemotion has experience with complex, multi-technology projects, we now have proven methodologies for enterprise-scale work.

2. Talent depth in new regions

Codemotion unlocks access to regions where talent is world-class but often overlooked. Central Asia. South Caucasus. This acquisition instantly adds about 30 more countries to our coverage, extending our talent network to 180 countries.

That means more time zones, more skill sets, and more opportunities for both clients and developers.“What excites me most is the talent diversity,” says Mihai Golovatenco, our Talent Director.

“Codemotion has deep relationships in Kazakhstan, Armenia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, and other regions where we’ve seen incredible developer talent but limited access. This acquisition instantly connects us to developers we couldn’t reach before.”

3. Stronger U.S. presence

Many U.S. companies wanted to work with us but preferred a U.S.-registered partner for contracts, compliance, and trust. Codemotion brings that to the table. It gives us credibility in one of the world’s biggest tech hiring markets and makes collaboration simpler for U.S. clients.

4. Upwork reputation and revenue

Codemotion has built a rock-solid reputation on Upwork: top-rated, expert-vetted, millions in revenue, and a 99% client satisfaction rate. Bringing that credibility under the Index.dev name strengthens our position in the remote hiring and agency world and opens doors to larger, more ambitious projects.

5. Scale + capability growth

This acquisition gives us more of everything. More capacity. More people. More clients. More infrastructure. It lets us say “yes” to bigger projects and take on the kind of work that used to be out of reach.

How it happened

Acquisitions aren’t just about paperwork. They’re about vision. Culture. People.

This one started with conversations. We have been looking to expand our capabilities. Codemotion kept coming up as one of the few companies that checked all the boxes: strong remote teams, proven delivery track record, solid reputation. Our Chief Strategy & Operations, Andi Stan, spent months digging into the opportunity. “Codemotion brings us three big advantages,” he explains. “First, their U.S. headquarters opens doors we couldn’t access before. Second, their Upwork dominance gives us instant credibility in a massive marketplace. Third, their talent network in Central Asia and Caucasus covers regions where we had limited presence.”

So we evaluated carefully. Skills. Engineering quality. Client satisfaction. Culture. Their approach to Agile. English fluency. We looked at everything. And we involved people early. From our side: Sergiu Matei (co-founder), Andi Stan (Chief Strategy & Operations), and Eugene Garla (Talent Advisor). From Codemotion: Yaroslav Golovach (CEO & Co-founder), Maryna Potemkina (COO & Co-founder), and Dmytro Husiev (CFO & Co-founder).

We spent months talking about culture, clients, and what we could build together. We reviewed the numbers. We looked at client feedback. We checked risks. Integration complexity. Talent retention. We asked hard questions: What could go wrong? How do we fix it if it does? “During those conversations it became clear we share more than tech,” said Yaro, CEO of Codemotion. “We both believe delivery means care. That relationship matters.”

Then we built a plan. A roadmap for bringing teams together. For merging tools where it makes sense. For keeping what works and improving what doesn’t. Codemotion clients get continued support. Teams stay intact. Talent sees more opportunities. Processes will merge where needed, but nothing good gets broken in the process.

And then we executed. Step by step. With transparency. With honesty. As Elena Bejan, our People and Culture Development Director, puts it: “M&A is never easy. There are technical, legal, cultural, and financial pieces that have to align. In this case, all those came together well. Because the mission, the people, and the values aligned, I see a bright future.”

What changes and what stays the same

Change can be good. But you don’t want your project disrupted. So here’s what to expect.

What changes

  1. The range of services will grow. As we said, now we’re able to deliver full projects from scratch. Not just talent matchmaking or staff augmentation. If you need a CTO, Product Manager, designers, engineers, QA, we can assemble and deliver.
  2. Speed increases. Codemotion’s process for MVP-launch or project kickoff is fast. We’ll integrate that. We aim for “just a few days” from request to hiring, or getting the initial prototype started. Less red tape. More velocity.
  3. Broader geographic reach. More time zones. More tech stacks. More price tiers. More flexibility. If before we were strong in some regions, now we have more people in more places. Clients get 24-hour development coverage and local overlap when needed.
  4. Stronger reputation. Having US headquarters, strong Upwork track record, successful clients like Neom, Accept Blue, etc. That builds confidence. That helps in pitches, in risk assessments, in trust.

What stays the same

  1. Value for talent. We still put developers first. Better pay, interesting projects, global opportunities. Codemotion’s employees and contractors will see more opportunities.
  2. Client-centric mindset. “Clients for life,” “same boat” approach, clear and honest communication. That’s core to both companies and stays intact.
  3. Quality and delivery discipline. Agile. High standards. Clean code. Testing. Transparency. These are non-negotiables.
  4. Remote work, flexibility. We remain remote-friendly. We cover time zones and adapt to client needs. This was part of why this deal made sense, Codemotion is strong here too.

What this means for clients

If you are working with us or Codemotion today, or thinking about it, here’s how this makes things better for you.

  • You’ll get more solutions from one team.
    • Instead of finding someone to code, someone else to manage, and someone else to design, we can now deliver the full package. Ideas turn into real products. Fast.

  • If you've been waiting for us to handle bigger jobs, now we can.
    • If you’ve been waiting for us to take on larger jobs, now we can. Mobile app, backend, design, launch support, we assemble the full team and manage everything end-to-end. No handoffs, no headaches.

  • You also get more options.
    • With talent in more geographies, we can match your project to the right price, time zone, and skill set. That means more flexibility and better results.

  • You get stronger guarantees.
    • We’ve acquired a company with strong Upwork history, solid projects, proven clients, and good revenue. That means less risk in choosing us. That makes us stronger as a team.

  • You’ll get both agility and stability.
    • We’ll move fast. But we’ll hold quality. We’ll communicate clearly. We’ll keep you involved. Because that is how we believe things should work. And, if you’ll need U.S. registration or local presence, we have that now via Codemotion. That simplifies contracts and operations.

What this means for talent

If you are a dev, designer, PM, or any tech talent working with us or Codemotion or thinking about it, this is for you too.

  • More kinds of jobs.
    • Not just remote contracting. Now there are opportunities for full projects, longer engagements, leadership roles, working alongside project managers, or even joining our internal delivery teams.

  • More stability.
    • You’ll be working with a growing, profitable, reputable company. More people, more clients, more types of projects. That means steadier work and bigger opportunities.

  • More exposure.
    • With our expanded client base, including brands like Neom and others, you can work on bigger, more meaningful projects.

  • More chance to grow.
    • Codemotion emphasizes rapid learning, English fluency, and constant skill improvement. We share that. Now just with more resources, more mentorship, more roles.

Numbers and benchmarks

We’re now playing in a different league. Bigger projects. New verticals. A true go-to partner for global tech recruitment and full-project delivery.

Here’s the scale in numbers:

We’re bigger in staff, reach, and capacity

We’ve added 65 professionals from Codemotion. Systems, reviews, quality assurance, and satisfied clients are already in place. We take all that in, learn from it, and build on it.

Codemotion’s client base includes Neom, NASA, VisitHealth, and MongoDB

Over 170 satisfied clients and 300+ projects launched. These are high-profile names that build trust and open doors to larger enterprise projects and greater visibility.

We now serve talent in 180 countries

This acquisition strengthens our presence in regions we hadn’t fully tapped before: Central Asia, the Caucasus, and more. These are regions with incredible talent that often goes under-served.

Final thoughts

This acquisition is a turning point. It gives us a foundation for bigger, bolder strategic moves. We’re actively exploring partnerships and acquisitions that will further expand our capabilities and global reach.

It also marks Index.dev’s evolution, from a talent marketplace to a full solution provider. We’re not leaving our roots behind. Individual developer placement remains core. But now we can deliver entire projects end-to-end, transforming how we serve our clients.

“This acquisition reflects broader changes in how companies think about software development,” says Andi Stan, CSO at Index.dev.

“Companies don’t want to manage ten different contractors. They want one partner who can handle everything, from concept to deployment. They want accountability, not just availability.”

The goal isn’t just growth. It’s sustainable growth that benefits everyone in our ecosystem. Clients get more comprehensive solutions. Developers get more diverse, meaningful opportunities. Our team gets the chance to solve bigger, more complex tech hiring and delivery challenges.

And we want you to know this: we’re in it for the long haul. We didn’t make this move just to look bigger. We did it because we want to deliver bigger outcomes. We want to help more clients. Build bigger projects. Push harder. Be more reliable. Be more ambitious.

Here’s to Index.dev + Codemotion. Stronger together🔥
